Dr. Adam Mahoney, PhD, CPsychol, is a Chartered and Health Care Professions Council Registered Forensic Psychologist. He has 20 years experience working with clients as a social worker, forensic psychologist and as a Psychology Manager in the Scottish Prison Service as well as other services. This includes over 10 years experience working with complex offenders in the female prison estate. As a lecturer and researcher in forensic and applied psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) Dr. Mahoney seeks to develop the evidence base and therapeutic practice to help effectively work with challenging client groups. This includes developing an understanding of how complex interpersonal trauma can impact on the lives of offenders as well as other vulnerable groups in society. Dr. Mahoney is trained in and uses various trauma informed therapeutic and psychological assessment approaches in his work. He is also a advocate of compassion and trauma based interventions and how they can help us understand and make a difference to the lives of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable members of society.
